In April 2024, I was recognized by the UWI School of Education (St. Augustine) for the 50th Anniversary of their Post Graduate Diploma in Education Programme. I am deeply humbled and grateful for recognition of my contributions to Mathematics Education, over the past 20 years. Please see commemorative poster attached.

A Brief (Playful) Biography

Where do I begin ... Well, I am from the lovely twin island state of Trinidad and Tobago. To those who don't know, Trinidad is located in the southern most tip of the Caribbean archipelago, just northeast of Venezuela. Trinidad is renowned for its Carnival, which occurs around February or March every year. As well, it is the financial hub of the Twin Island Republic. Tobago is just northeast of Trinidad, and is renowned for its lovely beaches, the legendary Nylon Pool, and its friendly inhabitants. As locals would say, I am a Trini to de bone.

Academically, I am the holder of a BSc (First Class Honours), MSc (Distinction), and a PhD in Mathematics from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine. I am the author of three textbooks, as well as three refereed journal articles (with Prof. Balswaroop Bhatt).

I love to travel, visiting countries that include Brazil, France, India, Scotland, Spain, UAE, Australia and Japan. In my opinion, travelling is one of the most underrated of life's learning tools. Being in a foreign land where there are no friends, no familiarity and a language barrier can be a truly humbling and eye-opening experience. It really teaches you to not take home for granted, especially the amenities and conveniences that are available in your country. It makes you realize how truly vulnerable you are in the context of the world, and upon arriving home, you have a greater sense of appreciation for what you do have.
